daughter shoots big pig
« on: July 28, 2005, 03:40:47 PM »
My daughter jasmine 9 yrs old just shot her first hog, whew what a day  we left last night to go to the Crum ranch to do a little camping and a night hunt  we seen some pigs from a distance but couldnt get into position to get a good shot for her.  so we went to the truck and made us a bed in the tail gate.  went to the feeder to look for some sign  and seen plenty   so we decided to go scout the lewis Feilds ranch out which borders the Crum ranch on the north and east.  Ill tell you   she is one tough 60 lb 9 yr old we went through cactus up some huge hills  and throuygh thick bush. we was walking  and  im was kind of day dreaming  when she said   Daddy  i see a hog trail.  i kind of chuckled and smiled  as  i point every detail on our hunts to her. honestly  i was thinking it was probally some beat down grass.  so i stopped and looked, sure enough it was a massive trail going north and south  so we followed the trail to a tank  which was literally torn up from hog sign looking back west  i seen some pretty bottom land along the creek    we decided to walk along the bottoms  i started noticing pig turds everywhere  and roots  and mud rubs.  i told jasmine  to squat down  we was going to creep along  when she seen movement  i looked through my scope couldnt see a thing as i had it turned up to 9X  so  she handed me her binoculaers.  my heart was pounding  we was downwind and I knew I had to get her within 30 yards or so.  i could literally hear her heart pounding  she was shaking so bad.   i had to put her in my arms and give her a hug to calm her down  we crawled a few more feet and  i eased her gun up onto a log for her cocked her hammer back and took the safety off for her. ive never seen a more serious moment or someone so locked on a hog as that moment.  she squeezed the trigger and hit the big boar solid in the shoulder it squealed ran about 15 steps dropped and kicked. she started yelling  i got him  i got him. tears just came from my eyes. as anyone who knows me   hog hunting is a passion for me  and for my youngest to take a free ranging boar under the sun and rain and thorns.  this has to be the most awesome moment ever i have pics  i am going to add  i have to download them from the digital.  i also took some awesome pictures of a huge boar track  and some mud rubs and roots

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

I sure will fred, mr Crum just called me  and gave me a number to another ranch near Loving texas weve done a good job  of getting the pigs away from crums for now hes pretty pleased.  they will be back for sure   but we are going to start hunting a few of these other ranches. deer season starts in a couple months for Archery  so a couple of these places i have to be off.  we may not go to langleys  since she got her first one  at the crums. depends  on what she wants to do. we are going back tomorrow  to check the trap at crums  then head to the loftin ranch  so i may be out of pocket for a day or two

Howie,

Don't chase em all to the ranch I hunt on.....I hunt the Loving Ranch, and we had a ton of them this past year.  I went out about month and half ago, and didn't see much sign.  The mud hole and creek was pretty dried up, so they might have moved on up the county.  But if I do see em, WHACK!

I sure wish I could get out there more.....
