One Shot Pump Spray Lube

I have been using Hornady's One Shot Case Lube for several years now.  The stuff I have been using came in an aerosol can.  I recently picked up a bottle of One Shot in a pump spray container.  

Last night, I was sizing some .223 cases, and used the newer stuff.  I had five stuck cases in about fifteen minutes.  I was getting pretty mad.

Has anyone else used this stuff?  At this point, I'm blaming the stuck cases on the new One Shot because that is the only thing different.  

I ended up using about half the bottle to get through a hundred 223 cases.  That's not good.  

Just so you know.....The way I lube the cases is to set them all upright, spray a liberal amount onto the cases from all directions, coating the neck, shoulder and body of the case from all directions.  Then spray directly into the mouth of the cases from above, making sure that the inside of the necks are lubed good.  

Then let them sit for about three minutes as per manufactures directions on the bottle.  

Still had cases stuck in the sizing die.

I've read better reports than that about this product, but I don't use it. At least the aerosol version gets good reviews.  

I use Imperial sizing wax or RCBS sizing lube. Never had a failure.  If I'm doing a large number of them, as for prairie dog shooting, then I wash the cases after sizing with water and a little detergent. I then let them dry.  If it's a smaller batch, I wipe the lubed and sized cases with a  cloth that has some rubbing alcohol on it to remove the lube.  This puts the lube where, and only where, I want it.  I've done about 2,000  rifle cases with Imperial and RCBS and I'm on my first container of each. A little bit goes a long way.

I went to my local gunshop recently to get some more Oneshot and they didn,t have any. They did have some RCBS  lube in a pump spray. I bought this and was a little leary of it but tried it anyway. The only thing that I have found wrong with it so far is that it doesn't dry too well and powder gets stuck it the necks. If you get to much on the cases they get tight when resizing them .This may be why you are experiencing stuck cases. Take your die apart and clean it well with some alcohol and a Qtip. When spraying, hold can at 45 degrees above cases and spray from one side. Tirn tray 180 degrees and spray again. This stuff will get into the necks like this and it doesn't take a lot as it will spread itself around them. Hope this helps some.

I have seen several, at least 4 , threads on other forums of people having problems with One Shot, seems it is not unheard of.
I have not used it, but have just tried the Hornady Unique case lube, reqiures a very tiny amount, just brush a finger on it,fondle the case slightly and size, a brush is good for 4 or 5 cases.
I just tried it with some once fired surp. brass, some cases took as many as 6 tries to full length size, never had one stick out of 100  cases.
I also tried it to quick lube cast bullets before running them in a sizer to seat the gas checks, worked fine.
At the rate the 4oz tub is going down, one should do several thousand cases.

Please explain. Did You run the cases into the die 6 times to resize them or partially, going deeper each time till you got them all the way in.

I tried again last night.  I sized fifty cases, only this time I used LESS lube.  I only sprayed from two sides, and lubed the case mouths with a Q-tip.  

I didn't have any stuck cases, but it still felt like there was more resistance than with the aerasol stuff.  There were a few times that I felt for sure that the shell holder was going to slip over the rim, but it didn't.  

I think I'll switch lubes and try again.  Once something like this has happened, you don't have any confidence in the material you're using.

About 10 yrs ago bought 12 cans of the midway aerosal spray. still have 3 1/2 cans left. I lay my rifle cases out on a towel and spray from the bullet end then roll them over 1/2 turn and make another pass, let them sit for a couple min, resize them then throw them in the vibrator for about 15-30 min.  Have resized 30/06 to .270 and to 338/06 without a problem. Have never had any trouble with cases sticking. Dillion also makes a lube thats in a pump bottle, it has a lanolin base. Have never tried it but talked to those that have and they say it works good. Just my opinon for  WIW

Different lubes may not be compatable with each other. Before passing judgment, clean all the old lube out of your dies first.

I have had good luck with the RCBS in the pump spray.  I lay the cases in a plastic box lid on a 1/4 inch foam pad with the necks pointing toward me.  Spray one side then roll and spray the other letting some of the spray enter the necks.  I usually don't even have to lube the necks individually.  I just made 100- 7mm08 cases by necking down .308 military cases.  None stuck and no wrinkled brass. Whats more, I did them on a RCBS Jr. press which is a little light for this type of work.

I still use the RCBS lube pad and lube. I have had one bottle last me for about 10 years. I have never had a case get stuck using it. it doesn't take any longer  or harder  then the spray stuff.

why not just go back to basics??
