Hunting advice needed
« on: June 21, 2005, 10:10:20 PM »
Hi again,

I'm enjoying my Tech Force 25 alright. I'm not seeming to get the best groups with it still and i'm not sure if its up to speed for what i'm trying to use it for.

I have enjoyed hunting very much but I am finding I am unable to kill the bigger game in my area. I find that I don't have the accuracy to consistantly get headshots but lack the power to still kill with a body shot. Most of my hunting is around the 30+ yard range with crows as the most common target. I use exclusively crow magnums right now.

What might I do to improve? Is my gun simply not enough for what I'm trying to use it for?

If there is anything I can do to make my current gun suitable for killing crows at 40 yards let me know. If not then what are the least expensive guns that will do what I am looking to do?

Also check how's your gun is grouping with the crow magnums at your regular shooting distances.  If you don't get tight groups maybe the problem or part of it is the ammo.  Keep in mind that not every airgun likes every pellet.

Border Patrol,

Replacing the rings is a good step in the right direction.  Second try different pellets(that includes hollow points made by other manufactures).  Go to http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/show_necessities.pl?show=NEW&Caliber=0.22&Type=0 to see a good selection of .22 caliber pellets.  It could easily be that your rifle doesn’t care for Crow Magnum pellets.  Other Hollow points like the RWS Super-H-Point, Beeman Silver Bear, etc. may be more accurate and work near as well as Crow Magnums.  While at Pyramyd Air and looking at the different pellets take some friendly advice, STAY AWAY FROM THE LEAD FREE PELLETS!  Accuracy SUCKS at best and penetration is even worse.  I’ve tried them.  Lawdog
