G2 stocks

What a dummy. I posted ths 1st in the handloading section. Just ordered a G2 carbine barrel and need a set of stocks. How do you like the factory ones? Does any one have a custom set? I would like to hear about them before I buy any.

I have a factory stock and forend for the G2 which came with the first frame I purchased. Second frame was just a frame with no wood. After carefull deliberation I ordered a gunstockinc in rollover cheek laminate with palm swell.

Three days after my order the stock was on my doorstep ready for finishing. Of the two I prefer the gunstockinc. Looks, feels, fits better. I think either the factory or gunstockinc will cost pretty much the same.

I don't like the thumbhole stocks as I hunt with mine. The thumb needs to come up and cock the hammer as you are shouldering the rifle.

Moe,

I got the 1" black pachmayr pad on autumn  camo wood with 14 1/2" LOP. He did an excellent job of installation on mine.

I do not know which stock to recommend as I have not handled a G2 stock.  I can however recommend Gunstocksinc.  I just ordered my second stock from them, an Encore stock inletted for the old style Contender.  Received it 3 or 4 days after I ordered it and it was a nice piece of wood.  I put the Sims recoil pad on it (figured that was what I needed since I have a 22lr barrel for it :).

I got my carbine barrel yesterday and ordered a Gunstocks Inc rollover and forend in autumn camo with Sims recoil pad. Should be here by Monday. It was a hard decision, there were several good deals on the factory items around. GSI talked me into their's after I told him I liked the factory ones. Gave me reasons why that made sense etc. Gave me some tips on finishing also.

Went out yesterday with the new barrel and stock. You gotta love those Sims recoil pads.
