Smith and Wesson 1000

Anyone have any experience with S&W 1000's?  I have a 20 ga that originally was a reliable gun but for the past bunch of years, it has been reluctant to eject fully or sometime to chamber fully.  I love the gun because it was my 13th birthday present from my parents and it is a sweet shooter.  The only option is to fix it.  There are no broken parts and several gunsmiths have not been able to figure it out.  I have recently heard that they had a problem with not liking cheap loads or most reloads.  I guess I'll try a couple of boxes of AA's next week.  In the meantime, any ideas?

When gas operated semiautos don't function smoothly the first thing I check is cleanliness. Chamber and gas ports along with whatever other gas system parts there are. I'm not familiar with this one enough to recall what it works like. Usually the problem is there.

Next up take out the trigger group and clean it well and properly lube the action. Check the chamber area for rust and plastic residue. Clean and polish it. If it still don't work most likely something is broken or weakened to the point of needing replacement.

the 1000 is the same gun as a mossberg 9200.

maybe you could buy a cheap 9200 for parts or even use a repair guide for that gun? the mossberg is more common than the S&W i would think.

mine didnt feed right or chamber right due to being dirty. i would strip it down, pull the trigger group out, etc...like GB said.
