I would like to find out who makes a good single shot 30-06 that is just a good all around hunting rifle. Nothing too flashy or expensive because it won't be used a whole lot, but I don't want to carry around a piece of junk either.(I want to hit my target every time) thanks.

H&R makes a good cheep rifle. I have had 1 and know of a few others that have them, and they all shoot very well. If you want a bolt action you should look to Savage. There are a lot of good used rifles to be had too.

cjbi: how about NEF - New England Firearms - they are well known for their inexpensive and quality rifles - lots of fellas really talk them up. Hope this helps. Mikey.

Rossi and a Russian firm (Balka??? something) makes singles too. Just to give you some options.
