DAY OF RECKONING!!!
« on: July 07, 2005, 05:34:09 PM »
Got paid today.
I "reckon" I'll get my BC out of layaway Friday morning.  I work swing shift.  I can sneak it past "Imperial Red-Headed Scorpio" while she's asleep.

Don't have any components yet.  In the meantime I'll use the Remington green box wimpy ammo.  I have an order going in to Midway in a week or two.  I'll be getting some of the Remington 405 bulk bullets as well as a Timney trigger for my M1917 Enfield and a quick and dirty recoil pad for the BC.

I think H335 should work as a good starter powder.

As soon as the folks at H&R come back from summer vacation I'll be ordering a second barrel for BP only.  I may ream it out to one of the big nasty buffler rounds.  Nothing like lobbing a round the size of a VW at some poor unsupecting woodland creature.

Finally a question .   For those of you that have a scope on your BC(burn me at the stake later for asking), are you using a scope with long eye relief to avoid bashing yourself in the eye?

Thanks

I've got a Bushy Elite 3200 10x40 mildot on my 45-70 BC, will find out tomorrow about bashing!!! Gonna shoot some of the 2400fps 300gr Nosler partitions in it... 8) If that doesn't work out, a 3.5-10x50 Burris FFII w/ballistic plex is going on it.

I fell down the slippery slope a long time ago.

I reload for:
270
300 Savage
308
30-06
303 British
7.92x57
45ACP

And now 45-70

The dies for 7.62 x 54R will be in the aforementioned Midway order.  Gotta get a progressive press.  All these rifles are getting to be too much to keep up with.

Reloading never saved me a dime.  I just used the money I "saved" to get more reloading stuff and more guns.

Well, it sure is a sickness!! I've only been reloading for a short time, but, so far,  I have loaded for:

.22 Hornet
.204 Ruger
.223 Rem
.243 Win
.270 Win
7x64 Brenneke
.30-30 Win
.30-06
.45-70
.45-120
.338-06

and have die sets for:
.357 Mag/Maxi
.22-250 rem
.22 Jet
.25-06 rem
.280 rem

and just got a die set for the .405 Winchester today!!

And working on 40-50 Sharps straight out of 303 brass, still looking for those dies!!

And all but the 40-50 Sharps straight are for Handi/Ultras!!!

Hellacatcher, I don't think we can keep up with Quick,
Unless we join forces, I think he has a couple more since that picture
was made. I am about ready to go get a 104 Rugar!
Gotta get ready for the next P D shoot.  Marv.

Zeke, I use a scope for load testing on my B/C. I bought a Cabela's Pineridge 2.5-7 with 4" of eye relief.............works great. The normal sight is vernier tang with the Lyman 17 front.
By the way, I was doing some measuring for black powder rounds yesterday and for what it's worth:
OAL to touch lands with Paul Jones Creedmore 535 = 2.910"
OAL with Lee 500 3R = 2.900"
