I am torn between a H&K USP in a .40 cal. and a Glock 35. The price difference is not a factor. I need some advice from someone who has an informed opinion on these guns.

Prophet, I think that from this point on it will come down to your personal
preference, They are both quality pistols, and yes there are some that call the Glock tupper ware but the tupper ware gets the job done, But in the end you will know when you heft both side by side, Good luck in your selection..........Joe...........

i would go some were an rent both an see what one you like to shoot the best

my friends have glocks an the new springfield xd ther really nice
i my self have the usp 40 h&k
the reasion i like it over the other is that its single/ double
an has a decocler/safty leaver all so it is ambedexterious lol sorry choped that word bad it is a larger frame gun i carry it sping winter an fall
but in summer i pack a bereta tom cat in 32 cause im a skinny an i cant hide any thing in shorts an t but that

all so i bleave last time at the rang i hit around 5000 rounds in my hk with out cleaning it excuding taking a bore snake at the end of the day when i shoot, ive been semi trying to jam it now that its nice out i wana see how much it can take

um heres the down fall
extra clips are hell of a cost about 50 easy an no one makes cheap range mags for them either

I do not own a Glock 35, but, I own a Glock 34. It is the 9MM ver. of the 35, same thing. I also own a H&K USP .40. That said here is what I think.

H&K parts can be hard to come by and there customer service SUCKS. Even a recoil spring can be tricky to track down at a local gunshop. They truly do not care about there civilian market, they really only care about there influence in the military. It showes in there price tag.(I did not pay for mine, it was a gift) So, stuff like trigger jobs, sights, custom springs and even extra mags. are mostly out of the question and will cost and arm and a leg to get and may take months. I have seen send backs go to H&K for repairs and warranty work take up to 6 months. On the plus side, most have good triggers to start out with, good sights too. They are really pretty good shooters. But, IMHO I would go with SIG befor a H&K if I was going to spend close to 800 bucks on a DA/SA pistol with a tack rail.

As for Glock it is tottaly opposite of H&K. Good customer service and parts our every where. Pretty cheep too. Most local gunshops have on hand or can get with in a day, mags, 20 different sights to pick from, custom recoil srings and guide rods, 3 1/2 pound trigger jobs, extended mag and slide releases, just to name a few. As for the 35 it already comes with some nice goodies. The 35 is there .40cal. traget pistol so you get some cool stuff with it like, extended slide and mag. release, ajust rear sight and 3 1/2 pound trigger all come stock on the 35 just like the 34, plus the slide has been cut out on the top for weight.

house of cash has it right. hk is overrated in my opinion. i used to think they were the macaroni, then i shot my kimber. my kimber out performed the usp by such a large margin that i rid myself of the ones i had. hk has a slick advertising campaign; but that is about it.

i havent shot the model glock you are talking about. but, i think all glocks are about the same.

if your looking for a composite pistol; glock beats the hell out of the hk all day long. magazine prices alone solve the question for me.

O yeah, H&K mags., if your gun shop can get them $40-60.00 each. Glock mags. for the 35 $18-22.00 each, $12.00 used.

Also true. The 35 is on the 22 frame. So in .40cal you can get the 23 mid size frame, 35 and 22 full size frame. 35 has a longer bll'. But the 22, 23 and 35 at indoor range feet all preform the same. The 35 offers better eye relief. IMHO that is what you get between Glocks more mag. cap. and better eye relief.

:cb2: I don't think any gun on the planet has been tested as many times, by so many different people, for so many different reasons, as the Glock. And I don't think any other gun has ever done so well. Half as many parts as conventional automatics (less to go wrong), and they keep working when others simply will not. Read up on what the FBI put it through before thay adopted it. I haven't heard of SCUBA divers using any other sidearm underwater against sharks other than Glocks! Plus it doesn't have all the decock and/or safety leavers to fumble with in the middle of the night. Just point and shoot. (Sorry, I'm a wheelgunner at heart, and I like that!)

I know you said price wasn't a factor, but why pay more for a HK? (With the money you save buy 10 extra magazines!) I know HKs are great guns, as well as Sigs, Berettas, Kimbers, Smiths, etc., etc., etc., but the only automatic I'll buy is a Glock.

And that is my very opinionated opinion. That and $5 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks! (Small or tall or what ever the heck they call it.)

I take it the trigger pull sucked? You have to get used to the trigger pull, use a firm grip, place your right thumb over the slide release, put you left thumb over the right thumb, hold your breath and pull even and slowly. Ruger might make a good pistol, you might even be used to how they shoot and you might shoot them better then the Glock, but a Glock is more reliable and will stand the test of time. Get a trigger job, it is $20.00 and take 10 minutes to install. Get rid of the crappy box sights too. A Glock can be very easy to shoot once you get used to the trigger and grip angle.

Get the HK, Glocks are ugly...... Just kidding. I have the HK USP Compact. Never Jams, Hits what I am aiming at and feels great in my hand. More expensive than a Glock? Yes. But I get what feels right.

I have 2 H&K USP/C in .40. One issued to me one is mine. They are both as accurate as any .40 I've ever shot. They are just plain dependable. I have thousands of rounds thru each one with never a hitch. Mine have the LEM which I really like. The H&K was designed around they .40 the Glock is a reworked 9mm. the pressure spike is different the H&K will last longer IMHO.

I have a Glock 22 and a XD 40....both very good pistols. Also have Ruger P90, P95 and new P345 which is my favorite. Trust my life to any of them............
