Opinions on S&W 637 Airweight?

Wanted to hear from owners of S&W 637 Airweights or those with similar models as to what they like and dislike about these compact J-frames.

S&W 637 has a 1 7/8" barrel, aluminum allow frame, and weights 15-oz's.

I have the Model 37 Airweiight® and it's a great gun. I swapped out the factory springs with Wolff® gunsprings; sure is a sweet shooter. :mrgreen:  It's my BUG while on duty & my off duty carry gun. Fortunately mine doesn't have the lock!  :evil:

If you get the Mdl 637 be advised that the Clearcoat® finish doesn't hold up & will fake off. :x  Mechanically the gun is sound however.

Plan of shooting 148-gr. Wadcutters or 130-gr. FMJ for practice and Speer (SB) 135-gr. Gold Dots for self defense.

What do experts recommend for snubbies?

I also have this gun and use it for back-up and off-duty carry.  And, it does flake...Other than that, good shooting revolver....

I like mine and carry 135 GDs.  What do you mean by the finish flacking off?  I didn't think there was a finish applied to the metal.  Are you refering to the black finish?

I have a carry a M 638 for summer carry. This is one of my two favorite sidearms. The other is mt Colt Commander pre Series70 LWT in 45acp.
The S&W really likes heavy bullets. It especially likes 147 +p Winchester hollow points into one ragged hole at 25 feet.
 If I could suggest a bullet, I would say try the heavy weights, 158 lead +P hp are excellent defensive bullets. Yea they do recoil a bit more, but its worth it.
