I have been trying for a long time to find a 22 Mag Ultra to go with my 223 Ultra without success. I got my 223 Ultra from my local Walmart but have had no success with the 22 Mag.

I want the whole rifle and do not want to just get a barrel fitted to the 223 Ultra receiver that I have now. I have even called H&R and the only suggestion they had was to find another dealer.

I live in eastern Kentucky so if anyone knows where I could find one I would appreciate it. Thanks

You won't get one from Walmart right now, their supplier, Sports South, shows them out of stock....

That could change at anytime, so keep checking Sports South's stock, when they show one in stock, get right down to WM and order it. In the mean time.....good luck!

Hello Jack19512, Welcome to GBO Forum

No 1 you have to get a complete rifle in the 22 Mag.
223 is center fire, 22 Mag is a rim fire, there fore you
can not put rimfire on a center fire rifle!

Geez Marv, how'd I miss that!!! :oops: Marv is right on, a rimfire barrel will fit on a centerfire frame, but it won't work, the firing pin will hit in the middle of the rimfire cartridge, but it won't fire....I've tried it!!! H&R won't fit a rimfire barrel to a centerfire frame or vice versa, either....FWIW.

You might also try Gallery of Guns to see if they have the rifle in stock. You might also have your local gun shop contact Zanders. Both of these only sell to somone with a FFL so if you do find one it has to be shipped to a dealer for pick-up and to do the paperwork. Good Luck! Also welcome to GBO and enjoy.

I stopped in at one of the gun shops (only 2) in my area and they had about 5 of the rifles in stock, but all were centerfire and all were priced around $239.00 each.

The biggest problem I have in my area is the gun shops want to lay it to you. The other store wants to charge you $40.00 for each gun ordered and the transfer charge of $20.00 on top of that.

My best bet is to try and be patient and wait for my local Walmart to be able to get one for me. Although I have been waiting for about 7 months now.

Jack, gunbroker.com has a search feature for FFL holders. Enter your zip-code and it will give you a list of FFL dealers in your area and the prices they charge for a transfer.

I found a gentleman that would do a transfer for half of what the local guys would charge. A little drive but worth it for me.

Not sure where you are located but it might give you some releif from high transfer fees when you find the gun you are looking for.

Nixter is right on, but be sure to contact them, the list is dated and many are not in business or have changed their prices, some charge sales tax, some don't...it pays to shop around. :wink:

I agree Tim, the gentleman I contacted through Gunbroker had a price for a transfer at $20. When I actually called him it was $25. Still well below prices in town that were $50 and up take it or leave it, you won't get any better...

Call the contact for updated info.

I called 4 different transfer agents, 2 were disconnected, one other charged sales tax on top of his increased charge to $30 and the last one which I went with charged no sales tax and had reduced her fee to $20!!! Like you, had to drive 15 miles one way, but it's worth it!!! :grin:
