Recommended barrel twist for .358 220 grain
« on: February 27, 2003, 02:49:27 AM »
Can anyone tell me what the best twist for this bullet weight (220 grain Speer) would be in .358 Winchester?  I have a line on a nice blank that has a 1-14" twist.  It's a good price but I don't know if it's the best twist for the bullet weight I want to shoot.

I have used a standard remington twist of 1 in 16 on 250 gr Whelen.   That is Remingtons standard.  I believe most people use 1 in 14 in custom rifles with good success.  As far as working for stabilizing bullets like the 220 gr speer should be fine -Go for it.  Regards - strut
