Rwj,i've just recently built a 338-06ai and have fired 30 rds thru it.
my starting loads were 57 grs of h-4350 with 200 gr hornady sp just to
site in a new 2x7 leupold.
I've increased my loads up to 58.5 grs h-4350 and will keep going till i get
the accuracy i want.Want to try h-414 also and will end up shooting 225 and 250 gr noslers.
Do love this new rifle built on a tang saftey ruger 77.Good Luck

crabyx78 - what velocity are you getting with 57 grains of 4350?

does your rifle have a 24 inch barrell?

Rwj
My 338-06ai has a 21 inch barrel, built it for hunting in
heavy cover in the mountains.The 57 grs.of h-4350
was mainly for site in account of the lower recoil
at the time i'd never fired the rifle and didn't know
what to expect,57 grs is fairly low load.I've increased
my loads up to 58.5 grs of h-4350 and will keep trying
till i find what i want in that bullet wt.
My everyday rifle for elk and mule deer is a 30-338 on
a remington 700 bdl with 25 inch barrel shooting 180 np.
