Survivor stocks?

Just orderd a set and was wondering about the forend? how does it fit vs. standard forend, and does the stored stuff sit against the bbl or in an enclosed cavity? :roll:

beckerhead, the Storearm forearm has three seperate compartments. (in mine at least)

The individual compartments are open to the top. (barrel side)

Each is end (fore and aft) is big enough for a 3 inch shotgun shell.

The middle one is shorter because the fore-end screw goes next to it. It can hold a 2 3/4 inc 12 ga shell.

I thought about ordering a set of these or just go for the other Choate Varmint stock. How do the quality of the Survivor stock match up to the Varmint model stock?
I am guessing for the money they are a lot more solid.

The ultra stock is nicer, has an adjustable elevation stud on the bottom  side of the butt and a much nicer recoil pad than any other H&R firearm. It also has 2 thick shims that can be removed to adjust/shorten the length of pull. The forend is wide and flat, has a bipod T-rail included.

Yeah I noticed that. Looks like a great stock-But then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from Choate. I have yet to actually hold either model yet though. My brother held a Survivor and he thought it felt kinda cheap. But I would like to make my own judgement on them though.
Choate is actually selling the Survivor stock a little cheaper than H&R I think. Selling them for $32.20

Sorry Quick, I still think those new Ultra skeleton style stocks are the true embodiment of the term "Butt Ugly". :-D  :-D (Although the new style forearm  may have some merit for a strict target gun.)
 I prefer the original "Survivor" stocks much, much more. Of course they were not my favorite at first, but once I tried them they became one of my favorites for a truck gun or a lightweight "carry gun" for long walking hunts, especially in the thick Maine woods or on snowshoes after winter Maine coyotes, each to his own I guess. Isn't it great though that we have this many options to choose from!!...<><.... :grin:

MSP, I'm gonna give it a shot, no pun intentded!! Will see how they shoot...I'm kinda interested in how the forend and bipod arrangement works out as a bench gun mainly for shooting colony varmints from my portable table. I'm not real keen on the looks either, but if it functions well, I can live with it. I have a nice set of cinammon laminates to go on it if it doesn't work out. :wink:
