Decisions, decision, decision

I don't know which Glock I want to get next! I was going to get a G34 (full-size w/ longer 5.4 inch barrel 9mm). I want to get a another 9mm, its been awhile since I got rid of my Beretta 92F.

I have a G22 (full-size) and a G27 (sub-compact). My G22 has always been my favorite. I have always shot it better then any pistol I have ever owned! This past weekend my father and I went shooting. I brought both of my Glocks and I actually shot the G27 better then the G22, which I never do! I couldn't believe how well I shot the G27, I mean I couldn't miss, I probably shot the best groups I have ever shot with a pistol!

So now I'm thinking about getting a G19/G23 (compact 9mm/40 S&W) size pistol instead of the G34. I really want a Glock 9mm for plinking and that sort of stuff, but if I get this size pistol it would make a great carry pistol. I've never really been a big fan of the 9mm for self defense use, especially when the 40 S&W is the same size pistol!

My father bought a Smith & Wesson model 60 3 inch 357 mag. a few months ago. He finally has a "gun" he enjoys shooting! It seems like were going shooting every weekend now (when he isn't out of town working), which is great.  The 9mm would help me out a little because the ammo is a little cheaper then the 40 S&W.

Like I said, I'm a little apprehensive about carrying a 9mm instead of a 40 S&W (or 357 Sig., 45 GAP, 45 ACP and even a 10mm). What would you do if you were in my position? Would you get the G19 in 9mm and find some good ammo if I was going to carry it or get the G23 in 40 S&W and then get a G34 for plinking down the road?

I think the Glock 19 is about the perfect size. With good ammo the 9 is about as effective as the .40. I would not hesitate to carry one. Around here the 9mm ammo is about $82 per thousand out the door (Blazer). I've been buying a lot of it lately instead of reloading it! The 19 would make a good plinker/carry gun. If you shoot IDPA or IPSC then get a mdl 17 or 34. They are both sweeeeeeet.

I have a mdl. 23.  I carry it concealed in a fobus paddle holster.  I love it!!  I am considering buying a VMII IWB holster for it, I hear they are much more comfortable.

I say go with the G23!! :D

:cb2: It depends. Do you want to have to shoot 'em three times to stop 'em, or only once? There's a good reason why law enforcement agencies have dropped the 9mm in favor of the .40. (Sorry, I know I just ticked off a lot of 9mm folks!) The price of .40 ammo is not that much more than 9mm. I'd always go with the bigger bullet. That's why I carry the G21, and my next Glock will be a G36. The bigger the hole, the more blood they loose!

Griz,
The 21 is not for everyone. It is a huge gun. I have the 17/21/36 Glocks, The 21 is a great nightstand gun, the 36 is a great carry gun. the 17 is for fun!  Ammo is cheap and with the proper ammo the 9mm is still an effective stopper. I don't feel under gunned with 18 rds of Ranger XT.
