:-) I went out today and finally got to try some paper patched rifle bullets. I acquired an RCBS 308 - 200 SIL mould which casts a tapered 200 gr. bullet which seems to be great for paper patching. I size the cast bullets to .308, patch 3/4 of the bullet with 16# layout paper, lube the patch with Lee liquid alox and then run it through a Lee .309 die. I know that you're not supposed to seat the bullets below the case neck but I didn't have a choice and I figured I'd experiment - the OAL was 2.75".
I have to admit I'm new to shooting so I can't compare my groups to previous ones but I got 1 1/2" groups at 100 yds with 42.2 grains of IMR 4350 in my Rem Model 7. I'm going to up the charge to get 100% loading density but I'm excited with the results. RCBS makes a great mold. (I cast the bullets out of plain WW's) I'm also working on a load for my 45 Colt with a 340 gr - .446 bullet meant for a .43 Mauser - we'll see how it works out in a revolver.
