Given that it is a 1 in 12 twist.... what's the heaviest from actual experience that you can get 1 MOA groups with, give or take?  50, 55, 60, 62, what?  Thanks.

The heaviest I ever used is a 55 gr and thats because H&R said I should in regards of the twist rate in my handi .223. I would suspect that rule would and could be broken.  One may find heaver bullets that shoot very well.

My 223 likes to the White Box 45 grain the best. I tried some 55 grain v max and was all over the paper at 100 yards.(about a 7 inch group) but the 55 grain full metal jacket shoot almost as good as the 45 White Box.

I love one shot groups in a hunting gun!! If point of impact is the same every time from a cold barrel, yer good to go cuz you don't need any more!!! My dad has used that philosphy for the better part of his 79yrs and it works for him!!! His sight-in consists of setting up hunting camp a week before the season opens, taking one shot from a rest at a paper plate at 75yds or so, if the plate is hit near the center, he's all set!!!

From my experiment on reloading 22Hornet. Begin with a #225415 (53gr with GC) not satibilized at 1060fs , usually good when >1700fs. I'll try #225438 (43gr), hope stabilized at subso vel.

I think that twist and weight can't be separate from bullet speed, when speaking of well stabilized bullet.

Given the nef bore tolerance of +-.002, what it will shoot will probably depend on wehter you have a + or - bore!  A .226 bore is going to send a bullet out the muzzle with a pretty good wobble to it.  If it doesn't turn over it'll probably be punching pretty big groups by the time it goes to sleep.

Bottom line, it's whatever your particular barrel will shoot!

Those win. 55 gr. full metal jacket ( white box ) gives me sub 1/4 inch groups at 100 yds.  :toast:  I'm going to BPS in the morning when I get off work, and get another box and pick up a box of win. psp, also. I really love shooting this rifle! 8)

Ok here's the load my friend was using the COL was 2.4" with a 64 grain winchester power point and 23.5 grains of xterminator at 2900fps he says it consistently shot well under an inch and was the best loading he tried for it.

i have used 60 gr' hornady spire points with very good accuracy out of a .223 Handi' bull barrel.    they shoot to the same point of aim at 100 yds' as a faster load i have for the 55 gr' spire points.    both loads use wc-846 for a propellant, and Rem' nickel-plated brass.
