Sling swivel mount on synthetic stock
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:27:46 AM »
This will be a dumb question to some of you but here goes anyway...........  Can a sling and swivels be mounted on a Ruger 10/22 with synthetic stock?  If yes, do the swivel studs hold pretty tight in the synthetic material?   Please tell me about your experience with this.  I've seen pictures of swivels mounted on synthetic stocks but are those stocks factory out of the box stocks or aftermarket stocks?  Thanks for your input!

I have put swivel studs in several synthetic stocks.  Most have thick ribs built in in the propter place for a swivel.  Drill them like you would drill wood, put some epoxy on the screw threads, and twist in in place.  On the forestock if there isn't enough material, drill a through hole and put a washer and nut on the back side.  You may have to shorten the threads to clear the barrel.

Is not hard and works well.  Take your time and work carefully.

Good luck!
