In my quest to own a real airgun, I have spent countless hours here and other places reading as much as I could about these guns. I want a fair quality, very accurate, powerful plinker that is able to kill small game if I need it to, without busting the savings account in the process. Well, thanks to this forum (and Lawdog) I am convinced that this is a realistic possibility with the Tech Force 99M. I will by it from compasseco to get the upgraded spring. I will not order the combo as most folks have reported that the mounts are poor quality. Instead, I will get the riffle (99M in .22), the Tech Force 2x7x32 scope, and the B5030M Beeman Deluxe Two-Piece Medium Scope Mounts. Total bill comes to 230.86
Okay, now for the questions:
1. Does this sound like a good set-up? I opted for the less powerful scope not because of money but due to close range shots. I have a variable, high power scope on my .22 LR and even set down on 4x it is too powerful at closer ranges and gets blurry (and I do not like using see-thru scope mounts).
2. Are these mounts going to work with this scope/rifle (fit properly, loading etc.) Are there other mounts (comparably priced) that would allow the scope to sit down closer to the barrel?
3. How loud will this rifle be compared to my .22 LR standard velocities and my good old powerline 880? I believe I read somewhere that springers are quieter than the multi-pumps, yes/no?
I guess that's it for now.
Thanks!
