Ruger 10/22 in camo???
« on: July 18, 2005, 02:10:23 PM »
Anyone hear anything about Ruger coming out with a camo 10/22?? Have you seen one? How are they? Just wondering because I didn't know that Ruger made a camo model but I saw some on Guns America.  Thanks for anything you can tell me about them.

Saw a pair in a Wa. gun store/indoor range.  Didn't thouroughly check details but it was ss., red and green and something lamo that looked better than it sounds and it had a scope mounted that had the Ruger logo on the turret covers. Their literature used to state that they didn't make and/or sell scopes, so I'm curious.  Sorry for the gap-osis in the info, but I was outbound when I saw it and in a hurry.  Did look sharp though.

I own one----the finish is like that on my camo Benelli Nova----I mounted a cheap red dot on it and it makes for a pretty cool little set up.

Omaha-BeenGlockin, please tell me more.  How long has Ruger been making the camo model?  What is the model number?  I went to the Ruger website looking but they don't show anything on the camo model.  They don't even mention that they make a camo model.  Do you know if the camo job is factory applied?  Wish I could find a live model to see.  Sounds like you have a great little 10/22 setup.  Thanks for any questions you can answer.

I think they have been offered less than a year----the dealer here has a few of them---but they were slow movers----it was marked down to $199 when I bought mine----I figured the finish alone was worth $100----so I bought it.

Trying to remember the model # off the box----10/22RFPCA  ?????? Something like that---if I didn't get it right----its real close. The box is at home in the closet---while I'm here----eeerrr uuuummm---multitasking.

They might have farmed the finish job out----but its sold and labeled in a factory box---like the factory did the work----so who knows for sure.

Its basically the blued/syn 10/22----with a cool finish applied.

They're not a cataloged model but a distributor edition model.  Ruger is simply contracted by a distributor to produce a quantity of a model not like that of thier standard cataloged models.  Been doing it for yrs.  Not sure which distributor got the run though.
Somebody - maybe Hogue - makes camoed stocks for 10/22 and possibly is what these stocks are.  Whistle Pig has recently begun offering thier bls in a few different camo finishes also just in case a home build is a possibility.

Its not a Hogue stock----its the same hard plastic stock they offer on the regular 10/22's---just with camo applied.

Thanks guys for all the info.  You gave me exactly what I wanted to know.  The ones I saw at Gunsamerica.com look mighty sharp.  Sure would like to see one in person.  Maybe at the next gun show.  We have a fairley good show coming up in August.  I will be on the lookout for one.  Again, thanks alot for your response and time.
