Loads for Ruger semi-auto handguns
« on: February 24, 2003, 09:14:00 AM »
I want to try loading for my brother who has a 9mm semi-auto ruger.

Somewhere I read a thread about not using cast bullets in a 9mm ruger SP101.  I know that's a revolver, but would that apply to semi-autos as well?  That sounds ludicrous to me - a revolver that can't take cast bullets?

Also, my Lee Modern Reloading Manual has a note at the top of the .40S&W pages that says something about only for guns that fully support the case?  How do you know when you have a gun that doesn't fully support the case?  Are they referring to Glocks?  I've heard that they have a weird style of construction.

Black Jaque:

I had a P85 once that I shot only cast (Lee) 124 RNs through.  It would empty a 15-round clip as fast as anything, never jammed.  Only reason I traded it off was that gawd-awful trigger....  Didn't have any problem with bulged brass, either, as I recall.
