I routinely use rifle bullets this way for very light loads. At 22 LR speeds there's no need for the gaschecks and no lack of accuracy. I will usually just cast, coat with Lee tumble lube, dist with mica, load and shoot. My Browning 1885 30-30 with a 170gr. cast bullet and 6.0gr. 700X is a one minute gun at 100M, with no recoil and quieter than a 22LR. (assuming there's no wind!) Much over 1200 fps I'll go with gaschecks but you may be able to go a tad faster depending on the condition of your bore and your specific load. In revolvers I'll only use gaschecks for the hottest loads in magnum guns. Most normal 1000 fps or less shooting is done with naked bullets, and it works fine as long as the firearm is correct. (proper forcing cone, holes lined up, etc.)
