Ejector Problems in What Calibers?
« on: July 26, 2005, 03:18:34 PM »
Unfortunately I haven't yet bought all of the calibers offered from H+R/NEF. I was wondering which calibers have you experienced ejector problems with? I have had the problem with my .223, 7mm-08, and .308. Using bore polish on a spent shell on a drill to polish the chamber helped in most cases. Of course my rimed 45/70 has never had the problem.

I have never stuck a case in 17hmr, 17M2, 204, 223, 22 Hornet, 2 different .270s, .30-30, .357 max, 2 different 45-70 barrels, 45-120, 30-06 and .338-06. I have had one stuck case in a .243, but it was my fault for not wiping the chamber after I cleaned at the range. I also had a few norma brass stick in the 7x64 brenneke, but it never did stick using many shots with federal brass. I polish the chamber and bore of all of em before I ever shoot them.

From what I've studied in person and in the forums, its the rimless cartridges that seem to suffer this disability.  I no longer shoot rimless cartridges at all(except my 45acp and 380acp CCW guns), none of my rimmed rounds fail to eject in any of my Handy's.

No Quick is not bragging, he is in cahoots with the H&R big wigs and they pick out the best and the slickest chambers for him. The rest of us are not priveledged to that service. He even makes big time with the shipping lady. Of course Norma brass is soft and sticks like you know what to a blanket.

In all of the calibers I've owned...I too have been one of the lucky ones...I have only had 1 F.T.E...in a 308 using cheap surplus mil-surp ammo....and I don't think I'm in Cahoots with anyone

My .223 did stick, but not after I pollished it. My .243 never stuck once.
