Rebarreling a Mossberg 800
« on: July 30, 2005, 02:06:40 PM »
I have a Mossberg 800 with a bad barrel (originally .243).  My father gave it to me, so if possible I would like to keep it in service.  I can get a .308 barrel for 75.00.

My question is:  How hard would it be to fit the barrel myself?  Is there a ton of machining required?  What are the chances that it will just screw on and headspace properly?

Last question: Does anyone know of a smith who will fit it at a reasonable price?

Thanks!
