.500 S&W Handi

Hi all,

Anyone tried the .500 S&W handi ?
I just got one and was thinking about letting my 10 year old son use it on a pig hunt.
We haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone has experience with this round in a handi-rifle...

Thanks,
Doc S

Doc S, Bought a 500 S&W handi a couple of weeks ago. Cleaned it and went to the range. Bought a box of BULLSEYE new manufacture ammo.(the cheapest in the store). iT WAS 330 hard cast RNFP.To me, the recoil was more of a push than a sharp crack. The recoil was there but was ok to shoot off the bench. This might of been the type of ammo I was shooting, I don't know the FPS.your 10 year old should be fine off the bench, just hold it snug. First time 2 to 3 inch groups with fire sights, not to bad. Good luck.

Quick, that was at at 100 yards off the bench.Used a 100 yard NRA target. After it was sighted in. A little getting used to the fire sights. The three dot fiber optic sights are very bright in direct sunlight.Alot of sight that takes up alot of bullseye, if that makes any sense. Should be as accurate as any out to 100 yards.
