Fred,

I gotta give you a big pat on the back, that plexi template works so good, I've done 5 trigger jobs with it since I made it!!! I buggered a frame up when my oak template slipped and a hole wasn't line up with the pin.

Went down to the local glass shop and got a scrap of ¼" plexi for $1 and went home and marked and drilled it, I'm sure glad I did cuz it's the cat's meow for knocking those pins out with scratching the frame. :agree: :agree: :agree:

Man i wish i would've had one of those when i did my 223. I didn't have any brass punches so i used a allen wrench and i marred up the frame pretty bad

I agree. I've done 3 with after making the plexi template. Cheap to make and works well. A Handi Lovers dream.

Quick.
Never did try the wood template as spelled out elsewhere. Since I could not see if it was lined up. When pressing down on the wood edges you dull the edges and the template can slide. Plexiglass is very hard and the edges stay sharp and you can see what you are trying to do. I use steel pin punches

I did not spell out exactly how I made the template. But used excact size drills for the holes. Drive out and line up only one pin at the time not all three. adjust the template for each pin, even though all holes are very close. I won't trust the factory drill pattern to be the same for each gun?

There is some more on latch and hammer tuning. I will also make a forearm tuner when I get to the machine shop with some more time. I will update the accurizing page as I go along and rewrite some sentences that are a bit confusing. At this time we spend a lot of time at the lake and hunting season is coming up with ten tags to fill and no gun ready to go hunting :eek:

When you're driving those pins out,use a nail set punch like finish carpenters use. They're concave on the end and there's no chance of them jumping off. The carpenters use them for setting nails below the surface of the wood so they can fill the holes with filler,and make the nails invisible.You can find them at Wallyworld or any place like that,and they're cheap. I thought about that, but I just bought good pin punches and then ground a concave hollow in the tips with a dremel stone. Good ones cost about $4-$5 depending on the size and they have much longer tips than set punches so you can go all the way through the frame. :wink:
