magtec 410 shells

I loaded a few of my new magtec 410 cases.
I used 13.7 grs or 296 then I took a normal 410 winchester dad and cut off the shot cup off and filled the case with 7/8 oz or #8 shot then used a home made over shot card made from a paper milk carton. the load did not fill the case all the way up so I just pushed the wad down to the shot  and it stayed in place good. at 30 yards the pattern was good enough to cover an 8" paper plate. this should work great for squirrels and rabbits.
recoil was about the same as with normal 3" 410 shells.

the shot came from some old 12 ga club loads I had sitting on my shelf they were like $2.00 a box. I just cut them open and used the shot  tossed the powder in my  trash powder can and wads in the trash I will use the 209 primer for my muzzle loaders. this is a cheap way of getting shot as I do not shoot the 410 enough to buy a full 25 lb bag.

My pet load for 410 Magtech shells =

8.9 Grains  Herco
1/8 thick paper board overpowder card
1/2 oz 7.5 shot
1/8 thick paper overshot card
clear fingernail polish as glue and sealant
I do not worry about shot height or crimping  Shells should last almost
forever, as this feels like a average to slight reduced load

I have read of using something called water glass or sodium silicate to seal and retain the over shot wad .Anyone know where this might be found?I know it was also used to seal eggs on long sea voyages.

I'm looking at these to use in an old Stevens 311 and a Stevens 940.  Will the large pistol primers cause me any problems (too hard) ?

Has anyone ever used PB powder for the 410 ?

I really do not know about the 410. I shoot magtech brass reloads in a 311 stevens sxs that is at least 40 years old never had a misfire in about 100 shells.

 The gun I shoot the 410 brass reloads in is a new .410 NEF Tamer

Back on topic, I've been thinking of buying some .410 Magtec brass hulls too. The ideas on where to start seem encouraging, but where did you get the starting load??
