Little drama but the firesights are on. I will update on what people need to watch out for tomorrow. I typed the whole dissertation about it tonight but &*()&*() got kicked out and between the 2 two I don't have the patients to do it all over again at this hour.

I always copy before I hit the submit button if I typed very long, it has saved my fanny way too many times!!! Then if your post disappears into cyber never-never land, you can just paste into a new post window.

Doesn't help much now, but.....I've been burned too many times!!!

Ok, I took quicks post and put a Williams peep sight with a firesight on the max handi. Everthing was going great until..... for some reason my mag/max barrel has a smaller screw hole for the front sight post. So needless to say the "shorty" shotgun ramp would not fit due to the fact that the existing screw was to short and the new screw as to big. I ended up putting the shorty ramp in the vice and used a drill to remove just enough to get the existing screw to tighten the ramp down.

I will be honest, for a little while I thought I was SOL. Then while looking through my handi parts I pulled out the plastic firesights from my muzzle barrel and remebered that I had tried to put them on the max but the front sight would not fit. So while quick's parts are right on the mag barrel seems to have a smaller screw size on the front post than some of the other handi's.

I took the max out today and sighted it in at the range and then went to my rotten tree that I am "working" on. all I have to say is wow I love it. Shot like a dream and I got work on my tree with a little over a hundred rounds.

Glad it worked out for ya! I experienced the same thing with the first 45-70 barrel I tried it on, the screw size for the older barrel is smaller, 4x40 or some such. I checked the screw size of the newer 45-70 barrel and found it was 6x48, so I swapped barrels, put the scope on the older barrel and the WGRS/firesights on the newer barrel. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this is some of my posts on the firesight install and Junior Doughty mentioned it too since he epoxied his on, IIRC!! The screw size change is why I stated the shorty ramp would fit late production barrels....I don't know when they changed the screw size. :?

Thanks for all the great info quick. Without your post I am not sure how I would have ever got this done, aside from just plain ol peepsight.

Anyway for I just thought I would post that for anyone else trying this remember that the firesight is a "very" tight fit. I used a thick cleaning cloth and visegrips to get mine on. while the visegrips worked they left some slight tool marks on my post. I wish I had been smart enough to use some shims or other small pieces of wood to keep the scaring down.

Anyway thanks again for the post on how to do this quick. Lots of great info on this sight.

Thanks, glad to help out!! I use a dremel vise to put mine in, you can also buy sight pushers for ramp sights. The sight pusher would be very handy for removing them though, or making windage adjustment, if you have to.
