Better mechanical advantage for my MEC case conditioner
« on: August 05, 2005, 08:51:14 AM »
I was lucky to find a MEC Case Conditioner on one of the auction houses.  MEC no longer makes these--their super sizer took its place.

The CC not only resizes but it deprimes, too.  And the mech adv. is much better than on MEC's 600 Jr.

But given that I am going to try to lengthen the handle a bit and see if I can reduce the Force to do this job, not that I'm weak or anything

Gluing up some hardwood to fit over the handle and if it does make any significant difference I'll put a ball on the end similar to the Dillon SDB.  Going to Hobby Lobby for the ball--they have neat stuff that I can think of all sorts of uses.

Letting the glue dry right now and then, as Norm would say, "Now it's time for some assembly."

As usual, I'm over engineering this.  Already have 8 pieces of small wood glued up to one big long hollow sq tube.

As soon as glue dries I'll do some sanding and then see how it works
