Boresighting a Savage 99
« on: August 06, 2005, 07:37:03 PM »
I think I already know the answer to this question.  Maybe someone else has a better way I didn't consider.

I just installed my vintage K4 on my M99-R.  It occurred to me that there are two ways to sight it in.
One is to remove the buttstock, various internal parts and the bolt and hope to get a clear look down the barrel to boresight.
Or, load up a box of ammo and shoot it onto the paper.  I am probably going to do the latter.  Anything else I didn't consider?

Thanks
ZM

FWIW.  The M99 in question has the rollmark on the side and a factory D&T.  Bubba has never been anywhere near Grandads old 99 and he never will.
