Has anyone here given this powder a few test runs yet? I've heard some good points on it, so I'm considering giving it a try in my 45 Colts using 250gr. cast bullets.

Is the reloading info they present at their website all right to use with cast bullets? I'm using the Oregon Trail Laser Cast brand if that helps.

Being I'm not sure if their loads are tested for either cast bullets or swaged lead, I figured I would ask this first before risking either a barrel obstruction or reloading problems. Thanks.

I have no real interest in this powder;I don't shoot "Cowboy"and I use fillers in larger cases.
I read,on adifferent website,that someone at "gunblast.com" ran some ests with it.

I used some Trailboss in 38 spec and 44 mag loads .
I used hard cast bullets and got close to listed speeds ( with in 25 fps + or - ) with all loads .
I got good groups at 25 and 50 yds , even though I will never be using these loads except for 50 ft plinking.

I like the idea that it is so bulky ,so if I would double charge it would show up better.

it fills up the case about as much as 17grs of 4227 or 5744. and burns a heck of alot cleaner. seems to shoot bout as well as the other 2 powders in my SAA i'm happy with it.

I have shot about 1000 loads of Trailboss -

5.5 grains under a 200gr LRNFP for Cowboy Action Shooting. Gave me a muzzle velocity of about 715 fps.

I was using Titegroup - but at such low charges, I was getting inconsistant ignition.

So far, I am very happy. The rounds are consistant, and clean. Recoil is very mild - which is good for Cowboy Action.

Gonna stick with it. Only problem is cost. Local store here sells it at $11.99 per 9 oz. bottle. So it works out to about 35% more expensive than using TG or Unique.

Would only use this stuff for shooting very light loads - otherwise other powders fit the bill just fine, at much lower cost.

Ran test loads in my SAA's and they love it. I like the bulk of the powder. This is it's primary reason for it's inception. It works!

Tried to double load my .45 Colt cases and you can't load a bullet with the powder filled to the top of the case. This is great and it will be widely accepted in the CAS world. :wink:
