Is there any accuracy difference between these two models?
« on: August 11, 2005, 01:37:02 PM »
Hi, i am looking at the Marlin 17's and am trying to decide between the Model 917vsf and the 917vs.  I know that the only difference between these two models would be that one has the fluted barrel but i am wodering if there would be any accuracy differences between the two?  Which one would you choose?

No, there won't be any difference.  I doubt the fluted barrel will do anything except for add to the looks of the rifle.  I have the 917vs and it's a great gun.  Very accurate and nice looking.

I agree - the fluted barrel will have less weight and will cool faster - but then I doubt that cooling in the 17 hummer will be a problem. Fluted barrel looks cool - but if your going for a bench weapon - the weight may be more of a benefit.
