Recoil Energy Formula
You can figure out recoil energy with a calculator, a reloading manual, and the following formula:
Recoil Energy = [(Bw x Bv) + (Cw x 4700)]2
64.4 x Gw
Wherein Bw = payload weight in pounds (add 33 grains to the shot weight for the approximate weight of the wad)
Bv = payload velocity in fps
Cw = powder charge weight in pounds
Gw = gun weight in pounds
To convert grains to pounds, divide grains by 7000; 437 grains equals 1 ounce.—P.B.
