Hey RB,
I'm a summer resident of Rt 49. Drive 16 Cleveland.  Didn't get out this year on State Land to chase the whitetail :(  I'd love to connect sometime to hear where you do your hunting.  Sendme a pm if you have a few minutes.

Rol,

Another former '65 termie forester from Paul Smiths here.

Left New York back while in the Army when I got a letter from the Suffolk County Sheriffs office in '69 saying that I owed state taxes on my combat pay.  Replied back that I was no longer a NYS resident and haven't been back.  Been here in Arizona since.

Actually in answer to the question where are they, the answer is here in Arizona especially during the winter.  Nice hunting weather here in the desert.

I grew up in the capital district and go back each year for turkey and deer . Bubba, do you have trouble with deer ticks up north? They are loaded around Albany. I live near Toronto now, and hunt two hours north of Toronto. We don't have any trouble with ticks here. I use to fish at Union Falls near Ausable Forks, and hunt Schroon Lake and Brant Lake area:D

Hi Larry and welcome. What do yo uuse for your handgun hunting? I am playing allittle with a Dan Wesson .357 with a six inch barrel and a red dot on it. I have a good friend who is teaching mme the ropes as far as shooting goes and feel I could take a deer with it. Again good to see you here.

Wanna bet ?? LOL
Just got about 8 to 10 inches of the white stuff agian yesterday. Lucky for us it's supposed to be about 40 tomorrow and hopefully it won't last too long. I can't wait for the road to clear up enough to take my motorcycle out for a ride. Then I'll feel like it's spring.

bare ground here in the frozen north. We only got about an inch or 2 in Monday night and it was gone yesterday. I have my battery charging for my virago now.

What we got here is starting to melt. But my road is a mud hole. I have a "94 VT1100C and the wife has a "99 VLX 600.  Have to get out to the shop to get them both prepped for when the mudhole dries enough to get the heck outta here. Hopefully soon.

Just thought I'd stop here and say "Hi".
I live in Dutchess county but do most of my deer hunting in Ulster.
It's hard for me to get excited about handgun hunting right now with spring so close.
I think more about riding my Vulcan Nomad but it keeps on snowing so I will have to wait.
Anyway    "Hi"

I'm with you !!! Left NY when I could no longer justify incredible state tax on my beautiful lake home in support of NYC.
I return each fall, cause there is nothing that thrills me like fall in the Hudson Valley. I still deer hunt in NY, but find it easier for the same reasons in NC.
I'm still astonished that the DEC has not published hunting changes. Don't
my NY friends have jobs, that would like to know their vacation plans?
Cripes it's getting on towards May! I feel for you poor hunters!

:D Hello:  My name is slik1. I have posted a few times, mostly on the turkey hunting forum. I live in Tioga CO, near Ithaca, N.Y. and was born and raised in pa. Nice hunting state, PA is. I live right on the border almost, so I can get 2 states in a hunting season. My first love is turkey hunting, spring and fall, both. I love to handgun hunt also. With the exception of shotgun hunting in spring season, I haven't carried a long gun in quite a while. Do all my small game hunting with handguns also. Good luck with your new moderator job.  slik 1

I'm a former NY'er.  I lived in Woodstock (Ulster Co) from 1979-1990.  I miss the area.  Did most of my hunting near Saugerties on my buddy's land.  Deer hunting is better here in Illinois (quality and quantity) but the scenery sucks.

My name is Pete from Youngstown, NY. I just found this part of the forum and see I hunt the same places as some others do.I have a camp in Dundee,NY and  have hunted  the Adirondacks for the early muzzleloading season for 15 years or so.Spent many, many opening days in Donnerville State Forest with a great bunch of hunters at a deer camp called " White tale Bluff" at the end of the road into Donnerville.Anyone else here ever hunt this area? Good to see more NY hunters here as time goes on.

Hey Bubba, I live in Macomb. We've probably swaped lies at Grays Gun shop, Rubys Diner (Reds Roost) or Crowes Heuvelton Equipment. I was pretty surprised to see the Heuvelton address. That makes us 2 and the guy in Russell. I didn't know there was that many people in St Lawrence County that could spell!
