Wife's new shotgun
« on: August 14, 2005, 01:09:56 AM »
Went to Bass Pro Shops last night looking for a shotgun for my wife. She wants to go hunting with my daughter and I. I have several shotguns, but none of them fit her, and she's a bit recoil shy when it comes to long guns. We lucked out and got a very patient and knowledgable sales guy, and after trying everything he could think of, she ended up with a Browning Gold Hunter 26" 20 gauge. It's a pretty little chunk of gun, and my daughter is already eyeing it. We will break it in this afternoon on some crows in a local cane field, but I would be interested in hearing comments from any of you that own a Gold Hunter. As a bonus, there is a $100 rebate on Gold Hunters right now.

I think she'll like the Gold . I have one each in 12 ga and 20ga. No problems after two years. You will have to keep them clean. Youngest son has a 20ga Gold and does get an occassional jam (stovepipe). Usually happens when the gun gets warm.

Do your wife a favor and dull the front edge of the loading gate. It has a pretty good spring behind it and a too sharp edge. Can cause a painful and bloody injury at the quick of her thumbnail. I learned the hard way
