I'll start off with my Encore 209X50 with a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9X40 scope and then switch barrels to the 7-08 with the Nikon Monarch 3-9X40.

At the moment, it's going to be my Marlin 336CS lever action 30-30 with Buck Ridge 4x scope, Remington 150 grain core lokt sp ammo. I have a Remington Model 700 ADL Synthetic in 270 Win that will be coming along too. Since my stand is in the middle of some pretty thick woods the 3030 will be fine.

I'll be sitting in the stand with my Bulgarian SLR100H (AK-47 type). I have yet to get a shot over 75m. in the area I hunt. With this rifle and it's iron sights that's a piece of cake. As for the stalk in, I like to carry my Win 1300 with 3" mag 000 buck. That of course gets left on the ground when I get in my stand.

In Eastern NC as follows:

Bow season (Sept 10-Oct. 7) High Country Extreme w. CX300 cut to 28.5" and 100gr. Muzzys

Gun season (Oct.15-Jan.2)Mostly Ruger Blackhawk 41mag and Ruger SRH 44mag w/ Leupold 2x scope on the SRH.

At times, I'll take out my Savage M110E in 243, Ruger M77 mkII in 280, and Remington M760 in 30-06.  At least one rifle and pistol will accompany me to WV in November.

Most likely I will start the season carrying my Super Redhawk in 44 magnum. Then switch to a 338-06 or 25-06 as the season progress.

In South Dakota we don't start the firearms deer season until the end of November. Hunting the the eastern half of the state we have plenty of shelter belts to hunt. These allow plenty of cove for the deer and protection from the blowing wind. Most shots are real close. However as the season progress, the deer can be seen  taking shelter out in the fields. Low spots and rock piles are favorite places for them to hide out. That is where the long guns come in to play.
