If you can get hold of the Federal 95gr Fusion or 100gr Hi-shok ammo, they both shoot real good in my .243 Ultra, less than 1/2moa for a factory load is about as good as it get, I've seen few handloads shoot as well here.

So far I have not come up with a load yet that comes close to Quicks group using factory Federal ammo, but I think it could be done but not by this weekend,

Howard:

Here's my thread on my(now mitchells) 243 Ultra varmint...and the groups I got using reloader 22...Remington nickle cases..Remington 9-1/2 primers...and the Combined Technologies 95 grain Silver Ballistic Tips...all of these groups were fired as fast as I could load and set...because of a time constraint...but...for the 3 shots together in each group was real nice and tight...and the flyers were most likely because of shooter error...but even at that  all were under moa for the 5 shots.....Group#1...41.5 grains.   3 shots at.212"...#2 with 42.5 grains..3 shots at  .118".....the grids are 1" squares...all groups fired at 100 yards...

So...if you can get reloader 22...the bullets..primers..brass...you might have a good load to utilize...probably not as good as a true match bullet...but should do pretty good double duty...for you..

Good Luck  :D

Hello I hope this helps, but this is a good load for my .243 handi

Powder: IMR 34 grs
(35 grs of IMR 3031 is the max load according to my new Nosler Book)

Bullet: 95 grain nosler ballistic tip sptzer

Primer: Winchester LR rifle

OAL. 2.695... The maxium S.A.A.M.L is 2.710 and I did try different OAL's but it liked this one the best for some reason.

I have load data from Barnes on the 85gr triple shock bullet for the 243 (6mm).  It came in an email and can easily be forwarded if anyone is interested.

It's a fairly large attachment in PDF format.  Actually 3 files.

email me at slewis53@adelphia.net if interested, of course it's free (didn't mean for it to sound like an ad)

Ballistics for Federal ammo are at the links below...The Hi-Shoks are now called Power-Shoks....I've not used either on game, the Fusion are new, but the Hi-Shoks or Power-Shoks are great deer bullets, my son ans a friend both use them. The 100gr Hi-shoks were the most accuracte in my .243, but they both shoot well under 1" at 100yds.
