savage 99, original stock?
« on: August 23, 2005, 02:09:03 PM »
I have a question about my savage 99E, it seems to be missing several of the characteristics of the model I have seen in pictures of other guns. It has no checkering on the grip or the forend, and all the contours on the stock near the receiver are smooth, and don't have the raised triangle of wood directly above the lever. Does anyone know if I just have a plain version of the gun, or if someone restocked it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks Flyrodder.

The E's had a lesser quality stock.  Most have a yellowish tint to the wood...a little bulkier profile...no or impressed checkering...no embossed triangle above lever.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :-)
