New accessory barrels
« on: August 17, 2005, 03:49:16 AM »
I emailed H&R's customer service and found they have .357 magnum barrels in stock for $82 + $15 for fitting.  I also asked what the possibility was of installing the 12 or 20 gauge "ribbed" barrels like the ones they put on their topper deluxe classic.  Those are $77, so I'm getting one of each.

Nice going, I just added a 20 tracker II to my order and a synthetic stock and the storearm as well.

Would like to add the 357 but I overspent as it was.  Besides I have a med/big bore with my Winchester 375.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

 Ok, now you got me all hot and bothered!

They actually have a .270 ultra comp?  Would that be blued or stainless?  Also, what's it like shooting an ultra comp?  Is there much more muzzle blast?  Is the recoil really reduced?

Let me know, let me know!  The .270 is one of my favorite long range cartridges.

There is a slight increase in muzzle blast for the shooter, lots more for anyone beside ya....recoil is reduced, also. When I last shot mine, the frame it was fitted to was away getting another barrel, but it still shot the rem 130gr in 1" at 100yds. Be sure to check with H&R, Jennifer to be specific, to see that they still have some. It's 24" blued...

Tommy:

If you can get one...go for it...you'll be glad you did...yes...it does reduce recoil...the heavier load...the more it reduces...yes..it does have some muzzle blast to it...but to you won't notice more...unless your shooting next to a wall or in a enclosed shooting area..but...everyone directly right or left won't like it at all...it is loud to them......but..best of all...it will reduce your muzzle climb by 1/2 or 2/3 depending on the load you use...
