Anybody beside me shoot 9mm in a contender?
« on: August 04, 2005, 12:24:02 AM »
I have a 6.5 TCA barrel I got from Ed's just to take advantage of the cheap winchester 9mm ammo avaiable from wally world. Now I can shoot my contender almost as cheap as a 22 but with a centirefire round. Its a lot of fun too. I love hese shorty TCA barrels. I have 3 of them now a .22, .32 h&r magnum and the afore mentioned 9mm. I hope to ad a few more as time goes by. Perhaps a 45 long colt or maybe a 357 mag next time we'll see whats avaiable and how much I can afford. These shorty's are a real hoot thats for sure!

I've wanted a 9mm barrel for a while now. My only concern was the .357bore versus a .355 bore. I know I shouldn't be so dern picky, I just wondered about loss of velocity and accuracy.
So please convince me!
FWIW, you HAVE to get a .357 mag barrel. Light, cheap and fast loads like Winchester USA 110 jhp's are great fun and very accurate out to 100 yards. I use them in IHMSA field pistol. Recoil is just right.

outr of it recoil should'nt be a problem but thanks for the info on the 110 grain magnum loads. I used to shoot the 125 grainers in IHMSA back when I shot it on a regular basis(which I may do again someday especually since cowboy action has become very difficult due to my disabilitiesMaybe I should go for a longer 357 barrel and a seporite 38 special barrel) Thanks
