hey guys any 405 winchester shooters out there. Thinking about buying one how is the recoil with that cartridge. I have a 45-70 and shoot 300gr bullets at 1900 fps. I also have and shoot a 300 win mag. Just wondering how the 405 would compare to the two. Thanx John

I have the 416 Rigby and think it is a great round. Very accurate and consistent. I am going on a Water Buffalo hunt on August 30 with it.
Recoil is very manageable.

I have a custom .405 barrel from Van Horn. I think you'll find the recoil more like the .300 than a .45-70. I use a recoil pad on the bench and that takes all the pain out of repeated firings.

thanks guys.......barrel is 18" long with the removeable brake. The wood is from "Ole Georgia Jim". He has an advertising banner on Specialty Pistols forum, feel free to check out his site. He does wood for 'tenders, Encores and G2's.
