It should have no problem.  I mounted and did the sight in on a Trophy 3-9x40 for my nephew on his Browning .308 and he loves it.  Did you also see that Banner on the Sample list at Riflescopes.com? It's a 1.5-4.5x32 for $40.  It's listed as a shotgun scope but that is what you have listed for the trophy model with the diamond recticle.  Would be worth considering, Trophy is supposed to be the better of the two though.

The Legend series are awesome, and you might want to consider a Meuller scope as well

Sightron 2.5-7x32 very compact and reliable. (Shotgun scope.)

Sightron 1.5-6 x42 another good scope.

I put a 2x7x32 compact Alaskan Guide on my 450 NEF and like it real well. Cabelas have them for around $179. The salesman and I compared it to the Leopold and for clarity they were the same. The Guide even had a wider field of view. I asked who made the scope for them, the salesman would not give me that information. Its got a lifetime warantee also. I have always used 3x9x40s but the last 4 rifles have put the 2x7 on. Another good scope is the Swift and are reasonable in price. Zeak

I second the 2x7x33...and go with the Leupold VX-1...it is a great scope...and with it's non-critical eye relief fit more shooters than most other scopes.....it's  bright and clear..it's cheap enough...it's small enough...it's rugged enough...and it's a Leupold......and if you want to change reticles...you can send it back for a small fee and have different ones put in...

I don't think you would go wrong with a mueller from the optic zone. Good scopes for the money and nice people to work with.

Ok...I give...why why are you limiting your scope power on a 308 Handi? If you don't want to go that high...leave it at 4x

1. i should eliminate temptation to go higher
2. i really cannot hold steady enough to use at a higher power
3. shorter variable difference for less POI shift
4. smaller size

but i suppose no of this is enough to really need to change.  i feel stupid now.

Weaver has got some nice ones.

ya either a low vari or 4x fixed. For a fixed i was tinking of a Burris Short Mag, Nikon Buckmasters, or Weaver K4. Can i swap with Nikon to send my Prostaff in exchange for a Buck of equal price.

It's doubtfull...since the Buckmasters are a higher priced scope...
