powder to bullet or bullet to powder ?

My approach to working up a load for my 50 cal. TC Black Mt. Mag. has been to find a bullet that works with 2 50g. Pyrodex pellets. The reason for this is reloading convenience when hunting. I settled on 100g after extensive "research" on this grrrreat forum. Finally settled on 245g Powerbelts (either hp or pointed). No spilled powder just plunk plunk and the Powerbelt glides down. This is my hunting load.

I do the same thing, with getting a bullet to match my powder. I use 90 gr's. of loose triple7 or 2 triple7 pellets. My bullet impact is the same. When I shoot at the range, I shoot more loose powder than pellets due to the cost of the pellets. When I hunt I use the 90 gr's. loose as my first shot and the pellets in my quick loader for a quick follow up shot.

I generally match the bullet to the game that I'm going to hunt then work a load up from there.  As long as the end result is a clean kill it doesn't really matter which way you go.

P.S.
Another little "trick" is to get some penny wrappers, fold and glue one end then pre-measure your powder charge and put it  into the wrapper the fold and staple the end. Put these in a plastic Zip Lock bag to keep em' dry and bingo, you've got pre-loads for next to nothing.  No expensive tubes to by and no really expensive pellets to buy either.

I think that is a gimmie. My choices of bullets always meet my game needs.
