Robert,
Yes, a 2 3/4" load can get there faster.
I use a lot of the data from Hodgdon's web site
www.hodgdon.com for Longshot powder and 1 1/4 oz. loads. With Longshot powder and a 1 1/4 oz. load you can get 1330 f.p.s. to 1440 f.p.s.
Longshot is a fast burning powder and it burns clean too. I use a lot of 1 1/8 oz. loads for sporting clays, with Longshot powder. It has become an all around powder, for me. I wished they'd make some waterfowl loads for steel shot.
Most of my loads are for crows, doves, pheasants, grouse and sporting clays.
Something I should mention is that if you're looking for a load for turkey hunting, speed isn't an issue. Since you're shooting at a stationary target leading the bird isn't neccesary, like it is with wing shooting.
Good hunting, Bowhunter57
