Anyone here used Garrett's .44 Mag Hammerhead on big game?

I've read the testimonials on Randy Garrett's website & I've heard a great deal about how this ammo is tops for self defense against big, toothy critters. What I want to know is:  
Has anyone here used this ammo for handgun hunting big game?
If so, what animal(s), conditions(s), etc.?
What was your impression of the ammo's performance? (Does it live up to all the hype?)
 
I'm thinking of using it for a black bear hunt over bait, in my 7.5" Ruger Redhawk. Thanks in advance.

HYPE? is certainly a big bang has lots of knock-down.
never been huntin' with a Garrett round, BUT have fired the 310gr load and WOW!! I shoot a SBH and this is the max for my weapon. it makes a big bang and a large hole and IF I were to go after the teethy critters, I would go with nothing less. but, alas, I am a lowly whitetail chaser and I do not need such a round.
I understand there is a 330gr load as well. the fella that had the Garrett rounds was shooting a 7.5" Redhawk and doing quite well. this is a LOT of a round and I would 'try' to find a few rounds to shoot before I invested $65 for a box.
the recoil is accepable and the 'barrel bounce' was less with his RH than my SBH (I fired both, made me want a Redhawk). I wish you well in your pursuit of the 'teethy' critters.

I doubt any bear that you hit with it will go too far. I have shot three in the Pine Tree State and over bait. It has been my limited experience that the shots will be under 25 to 30 yards. Aim for the shoulder with that load and you should anchor the bear well.

Bear meat is really fine tablefare if you marinade and slow cook it.
