Ok all you true and devoted factory Encore barrel owners. Why would a barrel shoot three good shots and then the rest of the shots go someplace else. Everything is locked down (scope, rings etc.)? Got a friend who shoots  a 7mm RM and he said his first three shots are less then a quarter of a inch @ a 100yds and then the next two are going 5 to 6 inches low.

oldman my 270 barrel will shoot high for a few shots after a good cleaning but on about the 4th or 5th shot it settles into a group that stays consistant.

I also got some verticle stringing with one brand of factory ammo.

It could also be barrel heating problems.   I usually wait quite a while between shots when shooting for groups.

I would have to agree, a barrel heating problem will cause you rounds to go all over. Let the barrel cool down between groups.  :D

First off do I sense a little negativity here?
Less than a 1/4 inch? That's great! So what does the 5-6" low shots group?
What kind of barrel is it bull, varmint?

Its a full bullbarrel, the first couple of shots are ok but after that they go somewhere else.

The first shot out of a cold barrel is the one that "matters" and the one I care most about.   :-)
