I am probably in the wrong section but, as the coat in question is a deer hunting accessory...........
Has anyone ever used something like scotch guard to water proof their hunting apparrel?

I have and it was to add it to the shoulder area as the yr B-4 I had some wetness in that area from heavy rains, do it early b-4 the season get here to avoid any odor, and I even used it on some hunting pants that soaked thru in tall wet grass while bird hunting. :D    JIM

Good stuff!  Have used it for a while and am very happy with the results.
    As jkm said  spray before season so any odor will be long gone before you hit the woods.
