I've got a 25/06 Encore barrel, 15", that I will be hunting with some this year. Texas deer and hogs will be the main stay. I'm selling my two rifle barrels on Ebay, so I will have another frame to rig out. I'm racking my brain on what pistol barrel to buy, and I've been looking at some from the custom shop.

If you had to buy one, which would you buy and why? Also, just curious on what accuracy you're getting with a pistol at 100 yards. I can keep them all in a 9" circle so far, but need more practice, which is always a good excuse to go shooting.

If you're looking for barrels, check out Midway. They currently have a .480 Ruger stainless for $175, and will have .454 Casull stainless on sale next month for $179. I haven't shot either (I like my .44 mag) but thought you might want a heads up if you're considering either.

As for accuracy, I can shoot a ragged hole from a rest with the .44 mag at 50 yards, and that opens up to about 6 inches at 100.

I really like my 7MM-08 15" on my Encore........can shoot MOA at 100 yards with 2X Burris scope.....

I guess to actually make a correct response I would need to know
what the intended purpose would be for? The 25-06 pretty much covers everything from squirrels to elk.

I personally hunt everything from deer and Mt goat through elk with a .358 Winchester and a 200 grain slug. Everything drops very rapidly
out to 400 hundred yards. Both loads I use ,shoot into one inch at 200
yards! I killed a 300 pound blackie instantly with a center front shot this past spring with the 180 grain load.
My all time favorite is the .444 Marlin and both mine shoot one ragged hole at 100 yards using both the Hornady 265gr and the Speer 270
grain. Again one inch at 200 yards. I use this one now for only big
bear since building the .358. It shoots way flatter than the 45-70 and has a whole lot less recoil with all loadings! Bullet range is from 180 to
300 grain plus.

Not all loads are created equal! I handcraft roughly 5000 rounds a year
and most of those are for accuracy loads for new calibers. Each and every barrel goes through this and as of yet have never had a bad barrel
from T/C that required more than just a re-crown.
