Barrel fitting part 2 (and what should my next barrel be?)
« on: August 28, 2005, 02:10:56 PM »
My .308 Handi doesn't lock up tight with the forearm removed, and it has a lot of lateral play.  As a matter of fact, it seems as though it may have even loosened a bit over the last 40 or so rounds, and I have become concerned with headspacing issues.  Accordingly, I will be sending it back to the factory for repair.  I had to do the same thing with my Ultra .25-06, so hopefully it won't take long.

I plan on sending an extra frame in with the .308 to have a barrel fitted to it, and here's the question.  I have both triggers set exactly like I want, will H&R reset them to factory specs?  I know Remington will do this, but how about H&R?  The last thing I want to do is have to work on these triggers when I get the guns back!

Here's my second question.  What barrel should I get?  I all ready have Handi's in .45-70, .223, .308, and .25-06.  I just can't decide on what I want to do with my extra frame.  Thanks!

why not either give your extra frame to me ( :-D ) or have a .280 barrel fitted to it to verify your screen name....<><....

I would say go for one of the new fluted barrels. Maybe the 22-250

Read what Fred and Quick have to say about loose barrels.
