Been re-evaluating my practice and carry ammo for my Ruger P97 in 45 ACP.
I've been carrying 230gr. Hornady XTP's, and practicing with 230gr. LRN bullets wherever I could find them cheaply.
Browsing Midway a few weeks ago I came across a bullet by Hornady that I have never seen before. It is a 200gr. Combat/Target Encapsulated SWC and here is the link to it on Midway:
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=974062 I decided that for the price, these looked like a better alternative to lead for practice rounds, and I have been thinking about switching to 200gr. XTP's for carry loads. I ordered 500 to give them a try.
Loaded up 100 with 5.6gr of Winchester 231 and here are the results:
First target is 10 yards offhand
Second target is 25 yards rested
I think these will work nicely.
