Pistol Neck/shoulder Slings
« on: August 25, 2005, 05:49:07 PM »
Any one try these with your Contender or Encore for off hand shooting? I mounted a sling stud on my forarm  and put a sling on it and put it around my neck when putting tension on the sling it really seemed to steady the pistol.  I got to expirement with this a little more and I see that EABCO sells one that goes around your neck/shoulder. I make the JSI slings that EABCO sells. I started to make them for employees at Bullberry and Virgin Valley years ago,  both only 15 minutes from me.

Well you came up with a darn good idea you should promote it more on the web.  I was impressed with the simple sling I came up with on how it steadies your pistol. They have a good price on it too for 20 bucks that is a good deal. I have to ask I am a big fellow does your sling work for us heavy set fellows too or would a person have to extend it?   I See in the pic that the guy demonstrating it has some heft to him.

If you're going to use a sling for both carry and shooting support, get one that slides easily.  I tried using a sling on my Encore, and for me to shoot while using the sling I had to extend the sling to the point that it hung down by my knees when trying to carry it.  I had to keep readjusting it back to a shorter length to carry.  I eventually decided it wasn't worth the hassle and extra support while hunting, so I removed it.  The Encore with a 15 inch barrel is easy to cradle carry, and finding a rest to shoot from isn't difficult.

You could fold the strap s shaped across your chest on one side to take up the slack and then fasted that with a large rubber band or velcro. a quick tug will free the strap to the longer length for shooting.

jh45gun, thats me in the pic , chest 44" if that helps. I have made some special orders with longer stap. No biggie. The sling has an ajustable buckel that takes up the extra strap in carry position so it either hangs to side or can be carried in back or front. Went thru a bad divorce and ex wanted the JSI business ( and everything else)so I let it die for now. I still have some and a lot of supplies and sell them to EABCO and a few customers that contact me.

Well gonna give what I came up for a spin and if I think it needs improvement I may order one. I tell you with the price of gas I may not hardly be doing much hunting at least not as much as I would like. Being on a fixed income this Gas situation is killing what little extra I have left.

Problem is my good hunting buddy who we used to go all the time passed away a few years ago. All my other friends either live too far away, Work, or do not hunt.    SO I basically go my self. The gang I used to hunt with kinda disolved and I quit them when I started to get disabled as some of the gang when they made drives ect figured I was not doing my share doing the drives even though I told them I just could not walk that much anymore. My friends who knew me knew the situation but the guy who owned the cabin we hunted out of I think just thought I was BSing him. So now I go myself and hunt the edges or use my vehicle to get to where I want to go. SO if any gas gets put in the tank it is me doing it.

Yea resident tags are 24 bucks, Nonresident 160. Lots of public land in the Co I live in and lots of deer. Most of my other buddies that hunt all have their own gig going with Kids ect. I got one friend who I hunt with but he lives about 60 to 70 miles away and works so we cannot get together as often as we would like. Expecially now with Gas prices its going to be tougher. Jim

more than welcome hammer,  of all the hundreds I've sold retail and wholesale havn't had one  come back on a complaint. Did have one fellow order a pistol sling for a rifle by mistake but just had him return it . I have nephew in law inforcement that mounted one of the pistol slings on a AR15 , holds it in front .

Southern Utah here is what I came up with. The origional  idea was a leather army style sling and too short. The webbing I bought at a rummage sale for a whopping sum of 50 cents.  :)  :)  :)  Did not really have a use for it until I thought I would dump the leather sling.  As you notice it is different than yours as I only use the front mounted swivel on the forarm.  It is steady so it works for me.  It is funny that more than one person can come up with some what the same idea. I did not see yours until you gave me the EABCO link. I posted their site at the a site I moderate and am am a admin at so between this post and there maybe you will get some more sales from EABCO.  :)  This sling is for my own use and don't worry I have no intentions of doing what you did and make a business out of it.
